The Netherlands faces significant shortages in dentistry, which are expected to worsen as the dental workforce ages. Training additional dentists through existing programmes will not resolve these shortages in time, according to dentistry professor Albert Feilzer. Greater attention to dentists trained abroad and alternative entrants would be a good start.
