Student and district nurse Uilkje van der Schaaf of NHL Stenden developed a tool to help home-care teams embed oral healthcare in their work. Poor oral health in older people is still often identified too late, even though it affects their overall wellbeing. The Dutch Association for Gerodontology awarded her its oral care prize for the tool: an expert consultation supported by oral care boxes, according to NHL Stenden.
